  • Understand what Commercial Tanker services can be utilised to provide AAR capability
  • Discover the role for developing AAR capability from current cargo assets
  • Debate how refuelling of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) will change AAR operations
  • Analyse developments from recent Air to Air Refuelling operations
  • Assess implications for next generation AAR through Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT), Autonomous AAR and international coordination of assets and capability

Event backdrop

The ability to react to events across the globe would not be possible without the work of the tanker. Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) remains central to an Air Force’s ability to project power. However, military tankers are amongst the oldest aircraft in regular use, and despite current procurement programmes they will be remain in service for the foreseeable future.
